<\/a>Have you ever woken up to realize that your alarm clock didn\u2019t go off and you are now running quite late for your ride?<\/p>\nDid you go into a panic, trying to get everything done as fast as you can?\u00a0 Throwing things around, speaking fast or yelling only to forget where you put your boots or keys? \u00a0 Then do you arrive late and blame it on your alarm clock?<\/p>\n
How did your horse react when you were like this?\u00a0 Do they get upset, refusing to co-operate and generally behaving out of character?<\/p>\n
Or did you focus on working efficiently?<\/p>\n
When something like this happens, do you ask yourself what absolutely has to be done to be ready on time? Do you plan each move ahead so you know where everything is minutes before you need them?\u00a0 Do you focus on your breathing so your thoughts remain calm?<\/p>\n
When you approach your horse do you continue to work efficiently? Do you focus, plan ahead and work quietly and calmly when you are grooming and saddling?<\/p>\n
We all know that goal setting and visualisation has such positive affects on equestrian competition results and equine business profits but do you also meditate?<\/p>\n
Scientists have proven that regular mediating increases the ability to<\/p>\n

- \u00a0remain calm under pressure<\/li>\n
- keep your short-term memory intact (so that you remember where your boots & keys are)<\/li>\n
- increase empathy (creating a deeper understanding of how your horse thinks).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
If you meditate regularly (or know someone who does) and can add to these horse-related studies then please let me know.<\/p>\n
